The Christmas Season at Disneyland Paris | Blogmas Day 2

Saturday, 2 December 2017

Back in 2015 I finally visited Disneyland Paris during the Christmas season, this had been a dream of mine for a while and I couldn't wait to experience the park during the most wonderful time of the year. We had managed to get the trip for quite cheap, so it was no brainer about whether or not we should go. It was absolutely freezing and I have no idea why I wasn't expecting it to be so cold but it certainly added to the Christmassy atmosphere! I thought I'd share with you some of my favourite things I was able to experience during my Christmas trip back in 2015.

Walking onto Main Street
I hadn't seen many pictures of the Christmas decorations prior to this trip, so it was all going to be a complete surprise. Walking into the park and seeing the "Merry Christmas" Mickey wreath was so magical and I definitely need it for my front door. Next thing we saw was the huge Christmas tree just as you walk in, it is pretty hard to miss and it looked incredible. If there's anything Disney does well it is decorating for the holidays. However, the tree wasn't my favourite thing about Main Street, it was the Mickey Mouse garlands that were strung from building to building. Having them hang over Main Street is such a lovely touch and they look incredible in pictures with the castle positioned in the background. They also light up at night and make everywhere look beautiful. I know the garlands are blue and silver this year to match the rest of the 25th anniversary decorations but I am not a fan of them at all. Blue just isn't really a Christmassy colour! I am glad they still have the garlands up, as there was a discussion as to whether or not they'd have to get rid of them due to how tall the parade is and because of a fire breathing dragon.

The characters costumes
Honestly, where can I buy all of Minnie's Christmas outfits? Because I seriously need them. I previously mentioned back in my Halloween Disneyland Paris post that I love meeting characters in their seasonal costumes, it makes for incredible pictures. I knew before this trip that the main thing I wanted to do was meet Mickey and Minnie in their Christmas outfits. I stood in line for about 2 hours and I had underestimated just how cold it was going to be. I was absolutely frozen by the time I got to meet them, I went straight into the Emporium after to buy another pair of socks. I was so pleased with how the pictures turned out that it definitely made freezing my arse off absolutely worth it! We made our way over to Froniterland pretty swiftly to see if Jack was meeting guests, there were only 2 people in line! I was so excited to meet Jack in his Sandy Claws outfit and it is still to this day one of my favourite character interactions! He twirled me around to show off my "strange and unusual bow" and showed me the ornaments on his tree. We came across Marie's meet and greet accidentally but I am so happy we did, she had the most adorable Christmas bow around her neck and in her hair!

The parade and tree lighting
I'm a sucker for a cheesy parade song and once you hear the Christmas parade one, it will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. I couldn't get it out of my head for weeks after my visit! Once again Minnie is absolutely killin' it with her outfit, look how adorable her coat is! The parade really got me into the Christmas spirit, we stood on Mainstreet to watch it and afterwards fake snow falls all around you. It was so magical. I didn't know what to expect with the tree lighting but I was pleasantly surprised, it is such a nice addition and brings even more festive cheer to the park. It also snows on Mainstreet once it is over as well.

  1. It all looks so magical! I'm going to have to make the effort to fly over to Disneyland for Christmas. I know it would be cold, but imagine it in the snow! Thanks for sharing, it's inspired me :)
