Mermaid Lagoon at Tokyo DisneySea | Blogmas Day 16

Monday, 18 December 2017

As I won't be paying Tokyo DisneySea a visit during my trip to Japan next year, I thought I'd share some pictures I took while I was there back in 2015. I fell in love with DisneySea as soon as I stepped foot in there, it is so different to the other parks I have visited. The Little Mermaid is my favourite Disney films, so Mermaid Lagoon was absolute heaven for me and I didn't want to leave once I was there. From the colour scheme, to the small details, it is honestly so beautiful.

The facade is made to look like King Triton's palace, seashell inspired architecture has been used and it looks incredible. The colour scheme is very blue to make it look like everywhere is under water and it is amazing. When we arrived at Mermaid Lagoon we started queuing for King Triton's Concert in the Mermaid Lagoon Theater. The queue started outside the entrance, we were stood in direct sunlight for a while. We went in the middle of July so it was boiling and we also went on a Saturday, so it was extremely busy. The queue slowly started to move into Mermaid Lagoon, as we turned each corner more of the lagoon was revealed to us. We were stood in the queue for well over 2 hours and I was itching to have a proper look around but we soon made it into the theatre. In the theatre the audience are sat in a circle and the show happens right above your head. The attraction is very similar to the opening scene of The Little Mermaid with her sisters projected onto screens singing, Ariel soon swims in and elegantly sours around the theatre right over your head. It is in Japanese but I was surprised by how unique the attraction is, it was like nothing I had ever seen before. I don't want to spoil too much!

Most of the attractions are geared towards young children, I went on one that probably had less than  5 minute waiting time called "Jumpin' Jellyfish." You're sat in a seashell that is attached to a jellyfish and you slowly float up and down, it gives you a good view of inside Mermaid Lagoon! They have a quick service restaurant in Mermaid Lagoon but we didn't eat there as the menu didn't appeal to me. The shops sell incredible Ariel merchandise, I was in absolute heaven! After having a good look around, we headed back outside to meet Ariel. We were probably in the queue for at least an hour but it was worth it! I had such a lovely meet and got some amazing photos.

After meeting Ariel and collecting our picture, I decided I wanted try the white chocolate popcorn. The cart is situated in Mermaid Lagoon, I also got the Ariel bucket. After taking some pictures of my outfit, we had a look around the rest of Tokyo DisneySea.

Although I won't be visiting Tokyo DisneySea next year, I am unbelievably excited to visit Tokyo Disneyland again! It is going to be an incredible trip.
