My Go-To Night Out Make Up

Thursday, 26 January 2017

I've been wanting to start incorporating beauty into my blog for a while now but I have never been sure what it actually is I want to talk about. I've always wanted to post make up looks but never felt like they were anywhere near decent enough to put on my blog. I don't claim to be professionally talented at it, it is just something I enjoy doing. However, I've decided to give it a go. I'm still learning and getting to grips with make up, and how to photograph it well, but what better way to share my journey than on my blog? When I go on nights out I like to go all out on my make up, it means I get to play around with colour and experiment. I went out last Saturday and as I was doing my make up nothing seemed to be going as planned but I ended up falling in love with the finished look. I wasn't planning on doing a blog post on this look, as I didn't take the best pictures of my make up that night but here we go!

As I was typing out that list I was thinking, "do I actually put all of those products on my face?" But when I'm applying them it definitely doesn't feel like I'm using that many products! Whenever I do my make up I use shades from about 3 different palettes, as I love to mix and match. Until recently I would only ever wear bronze eye shadow, now I have finally ventured towards using brighter colours and I am so in love with wearing them. I would much rather wear pink, purple, turquoise eye shadows now, especially for nights out!

I always find applying my foundation and concealer with a wet beauty blender works best for me, I don't feel like I'm dragging my skin as much if the blender is damp. I always apply my concealer before and after applying foundation, I have to conquer these bags somehow. I'll then target my eyebrows next, I lightly fill in my brows with the pomade to give them an outline and then go over them with powder, I find this the easiest way to do my brows. I'm also going through the process of growing them out, so they are very temperamental!

For my eye shadow I highlighted my eye with "Lily" from the Urban Decay Alice palette, this is such a beautiful shade, in certain lights it gives off an amazing pearlescent pink colour. I then blended "Volt" from the Kat Von D Metal Matte palette into my crease, this took quite a while to blend in as it is an extremely pigmented shade. I love highlighting the inner corners of my eyes, for this I used "Twinkle" from the Kat Von D Metal Matte palette, it is an incredible lilac shade and gives off a beautiful shimmer. I think it looks amazing when used to highlight the inner corner of my eyes, I then put a bit of my Illamasqua pigment on top of it, as you can never wear too much glitter... To top it off I always put a small pink sequin right in the corner. This is something I have just started doing recently, I'm not too sure why but I love how it looks! To set a base for the glitter I patted "Harlequin" by NYX onto my eyelid and placed "Magnetic" from the Urban Decay Moondust palette on top. Together these shades create such an incredible purple combo, they compliment each other beautifully. I then went back to "Volt" and blend it underneath my eye. I always line my bottom eyelid with eye shadow, I used to use eyeliner a lot but I find eye shadow has more staying power. I then apply my lashes, mascara and eyeliner, I think false eyelashes can seriously transform any make up look. Once I had finished applying my bronzer, blusher and highlighter and set it all with a setting spray, I felt like I didn't have quite enough glitter on. I decided to pat some purple glitter all over my eyelid! To finish the look I then applied Sagittarius by Jeffree Star, I wasn't too sure how I felt about it at first but once I had worn it out for the first time, I fell in love!

I'm definitely not a professional make up artist and I have a lot to learn but I loved this make up look and I hated when I had to drunkenly wash it off. I'm hoping to upload some more make up looks on my blog soon and I might even have a few collabs in the pipeline!
