My 2016 Highlights

Saturday, 31 December 2016

2016 has been a weird year and I know it has been quite difficult for some people, so I wanted to share some of my highlights from the past year.

I turned 21
This doesn't necessarily seem like anything majorly important but turning 21 felt different to me. I know you're officially an adult when you turn 18 but to me, it didn't feel 'official.' Turning 21 hit me differently and it just made me think, "shit, I'm actually an adult now, this is really happening."

I received a first for my dissertation
This probably one of my proudest moments to date, I put a lot of pressure on myself throughout university and always convinced myself my work wasn't good enough. I knew that as soon as I decided to do a film degree I was going to write my dissertation on something related and I actually enjoyed doing all of the research for it. Writing about something you are so passionate and doing exceptionally well at it is an incredible feeling.

I went to Portugal and Prague with my boyfriend and celebrated being together for a year
Being able to go on two new adventures with my favourite person was amazing. I'd never been to Portugal or Prague before, so visiting them was an incredible experience. They are both such beautiful countries and the time I have taken away the best memories from them. I have also officially been with Jake for over a year now and I am so incredibly lucky to have him in my life.

Graduating from university with a 2:1
University was really difficult for me, although I put in a lot of work I was convinced I was going to fail. Finding out I had done a lot better than I was expecting is probably one of the best feelings, finally graduating and knowing all my hard work has paid off is something I will honestly never forget.

Visiting Disneyland Paris during the Halloween season
I hadn't been to Disneyland during the Halloween season since I was 8, so booking this trip made my whole year. Seeing the park and characters decked out for Halloween was beyond beautiful, everywhere looked so magical.

I'm excited for 2017 and to begin new adventures! Here's hoping next year is even better. What are some of your highlights from 2016?

  1. 2016 sounds like a great year for you! I graduated in 2014 and I'll always remember that final year because of the stress and finally graduating, so I think you'll remember 2016 mostly for that! But it's an amazing achievement and needs to be remembered :)

Your holidays all sound wonderful too, I went to DLP during the Halloween & Christmas crossover in 2015 and it was great, I can't wait to see other seasons there too!
