My Thoughts On Beauty and the Beast Live Action Trailer

Monday, 14 November 2016

It honestly feels like I have been waiting an eternity for a trailer to be released for this film and for the film itself. When I found out Emma Watson was going to be playing Belle it was January 2015 and I was at the Harry Potter Studios in Watford and from that moment on I was ridiculously excited for Beauty and the Beast to be a live action film. Emma Watson is someone I have admired since the early days of Harry Potter, so for her to be portraying one of my favourite Disney characters is a dream come true.

I know there have been a lot mixed opinions for this film, mainly about Emma Watson portraying Belle. I personally think she makes the perfect Belle and I am glad that they have taken the same route they took with Cinderella by making the characters British. I have seen people say that all they could see when watching the trailer was Hermione, I do understand thus but when you hear Ian McKellon talk do you only hear Gandalf? These actors are not solely known for these huge roles that they had in the past. Emma Watson is and has been cast in other films, she hasn't been Hermione for 5 years now. I believe that Emma Watson entering the world of Disney will allow her to move away from being recognised as "that girl that was in Harry Potter." As this is a live action film there will obviously be changes and differences to the animated movie and I'm excited to see them.

From watching the teaser trailer and this trailer you can see how much detail has gone into creating the sets and scenery for the film. Even in the animated movie the landscapes and castle are incredibly beautiful and I think they have gone above and beyond in ensuring the settings are truly breathtaking. The short clips that have been shown of the ballroom look amazing, the camera gliding above them as Beast spins Belle looks more or less identical to the original film, it is one of my favourite shots used. Despite a lot of people disliking Belle's dress I think it is gorgeous as it's not too over the top, which it definitely had the potential of being. If it was too big and heavy then she would have been extremely limited in how much she would be able to move in it and the dance scene is supposed to look effortlessly beautiful. It is important to take into consideration how the actress would feel in the dress, as they are the one who has to wear it. I personally don't think it should be compared to the live action Cinderella dress, or the dress the character wears in the Disney parks.

Something I was worried about was how they would portray Beast, it is important that they made him appear terrifying while also depicting his kind and compassionate side. From the trailer it is clear that Dan Stevens has done an incredible job in bringing the Beast to life, from his voice, to his appearance, I cannot fault him. As soon as I found out Luke Evans was cast as Gaston I knew he was the perfect choice, he's definitely handsome charming. I'm excited to see him and Josh Gad singing Gaston's song together.

After seeing the terrifying picture of Mrs. Potts that was released, I admit that I was worried with how they would portray the talking inanimate objects. The way they have put the faces on the objects isn't horrifying and I believe that if they had put a whole human face on a teapot it would have looked extremely creepy. Chip is a special character to me so I was anxious to see what he looked like but I think he is adorable. Lumiere surprised me the most, I wasn't expecting him to have legs as seeing him hopping around is how I imagine to move. I'm looking forward to seeing how they have incorporated the fact he is able to move around with more ease into Be Our Guest. Overall, they are very antique looking objects which fits the style of the castle and the time period exceptionally well, especially Cogsworth.

The floral dress that Belle is seen wearing in the library scene is so beautiful, I love the design and I cannot wait to see when Beast gifts Belle the library. My favourite scene from Beauty and the Beast is when they sing Something There, it is where the audience are able to see Belle truly beginning to fall in love with the Beast. I absolutely adore the outfit she wears throughout this scene in the animated movie, I have always wanted her red cape and I am so happy they incorporated it into the live action. I cannot wait to see a shot of the whole outfit and to see how this scene comes together in the movie. I really hope they do the song justice and have them doing snow angels together

From the songs, to the sets, to the costumes, to the cast and the CGI, I am unbelievably excited for this film. What are your thoughts on the new live action Beauty and the Beast film?

  1. I think Emma is the perfect choice too, I'm so happy to see her on the screen playing such an iconic character. The whole feel of the trailer had me getting emotional by how beautiful is all was! I adore the Cinderella live-action and I know this one will be just as amazing.

    1. It's amazing to see her enter another big franchise, away from Harry Potter! The film looks incredible and I know they will do the original film justice.

  2. I could not agree more with everything you've said, especially the bit about Ian McKellen/Gandalf! I'm honestly so surprised by the negative reaction to Emma Watson - I could not imagine an actress I'd want to play Belle more than her! Great post lovely :) xx

  3. Start with the wolf's hood. Cut the fake fur and make sure it fits with the stocking cap. Utilize the cloth tape to connect the fur with the hood. You also need to cut a hole in the fur piece so that it covers up your hubby's head to get through.stream movies online

  5. The characters in this film were not ready to put stock in anybody around them, and they did not have the assets important to bear on a typical life, which could be an exact result in a genuine societal breakdown.MegaShare - Watch Full Movies Online Free Streaming
