Vising Disneyland Paris in 2003

Sunday, 10 July 2016

The first time I visited Disney I was 8 years old in 2003 and I went to Disneyland Paris during Halloween with my family. I do actually remember some parts of the trip quite vividly and my dad took some pictures while we were there. As I have previously said, looking back at Disney photos is one of my favourite things to do, so I thought it'd be interesting to show you some of the pictures from my trip in 2003 and briefly talk about what I can remember from it! The picture below is of me and my twin brother.

We stayed at the Davy Crockett Ranch as there was five of us, I remember visiting the shop at night that is situated by the ranch and they were playing This Is Halloween, I was so excited to hear it. I also remember them playing it as we were walking through Disney Village. The Nightmare Before Christmas was, and still is, my favourite film at the time, so you can imagine my excitement when I heard the songs playing and seeing the park all decked out for Halloween. You were able to get your hair done with glitter and spray paint in to go with the Halloween theme, I wanted it done so badly but I was too shy. I would definitely get that done now if they still did it.

I remember getting so excited when I saw the pumpkin sat on the wooden horse, as it is the same one that jumps into the cauldron at the start of The Nightmare Before Christmas. I'm not sure if we were supposed to but my dad lifted me up onto it so we could take a picture. I love the massive pumpkin that they had situated in the hub but it really does obstruct the castle ii pictures. I have a vivid member of riding Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan's Flight, Space Mountain, It's A Small World and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Unfortunately, I was too short to ride Indiana Jones, so the next day I wore my trainers that make me slightly taller. As we were waiting the ride had some technical difficulties and had to be closed, I was so sad. How I was tall enough to ride the other two roller coaster and not that one is beyond me. Although, now I have ridden this ride I know I wasn't missing out on much, it really hurts my head.

Something I will always remember is watching the parade, they had a Treasure Planet float back then and Ben stopped on route to kiss me on the hand. It was such a cute moment and it is something I don't think I will ever forget. Meeting characters was a matter of beating the crowds, you didn't have to wait in line, you just had to deal with people pushing you out of the way to get to the front. At first I was awful at letting people just go in front of me because I wouldn't stand my ground, I soon learnt my lesson and wouldn't let anyone past me. I was able to meet what would be considered rare characters today.
Pizza Planet was there in 2003 and they sold Mickey shaped pizza. I remember my dad taking the picture of me holding it because I was wearing my Chip and Dale bobbles, which I wore every single day after buying them. I have also recently just had a full fringe cut in, so if I can buy those bobbles again I would definitely try to recreate some of the photos.

Another thing I also remember buying was pumpkin shaped Mickey Mouse marble bag, I kept the bag for such a long time after. Obviously, I lost all of the marbles that were in it. We still have the Christmas baubles we bought too, they go on our tree every year and have done since 2003. I don't think the queues were too bad when we went, that is one thing I honestly cannot remember too well.

I also bought a Tigger jumper on this trip and it still somehow fits me 13 years later.

Below are all of the autographs I managed to get while I was there!

How old were you when you first visited a Disney park?
